Mining the neighbourhood for discarded everyday items, kitchen table technology is used to re-purpose found items and materials as wearable art and sculptural works. Concern for a world of diminishing and compromised resources is expressed through a gleaning-based practice with an ethos of
environmental awarness.
Recent exhibitions include:Twisted and Torn 2013, Harbourside Gallery Tewantin, 100% Recycle 2012, Brisbane City Library, 103 Pendants 2012, Art Factory Gallery Brisbane, Point 2011, Noosa Regional Gallery.
Christopher Hardwick graduated from the Queensland College of Art in 2012 with a degree in Fine Art, a major in Jewellery and Small Objects and a specialisation in Art Theory.
Hardwick was announced recently as the winner of the Wide Bay acquisitive Sculpture Award in the Gympie Regional Gallery’s Gold Rush Art Competition.
The judges commented on the playful title and concept, the craft references to weaving which reinterpret conventional uses of materials, and the expression of movement through the form which create additional pattern and texture.
His current art practice as a Metalsmith and Jeweller involves the creation of small objects, sculpture and jewellery. He currently lives and works in Imbil,Qld.
